With over 100 coaches on staff, Yorktown is often seeking qualified candidates to coach in various sports. All candidates will be required to pass an APS background check, complete several required online trainings, attend coaches meetings for professional development and show an appreciation for the importance of using athletics as a means for developing social-emotional skills in our young adults.

Final offers of employment will be made by APS Human Resources after an interview at the school level with the head coach and Director of Student Activities.
Assistant Track Coach - Jumps Coach
Seeking a jumps coach (specifically high jump and triple jump) to be a member of a staff of five or six coaches who work with over 150 athletes of varying abilities and interests. Candidates should be able to commit to afternoon practices four weekdays a week as well as meets on Friday nights and/or Saturdays. The ideal candidate has experience working with high school age students and can plan practices for a group of 20-25 students. An eye toward safety of the runners is a key concern given the location of practices. The indoor track season runs from mid-November to mid-February while the outdoor track season runs from mid-February to late May . The stipend will range depending on time commitment and availability from $2232-$4467.
Junior Varsity Head Girls Soccer Coach
The successful individual will work with the varsity coaches to create a positive environment where students have fun playing soccer and further developing their skills. The skill level of students on this team is high and many aspire to play varsity which is an opportunity which often presents itself with a fluid movement of players to and from varsity. Safety, fun and structure are critical components of a successful team atmosphere. Applicants should have prior head soccer coaching experience in travel, community or high school. The spring season runs late February to early May and practices are primarily at 3:30 pm with games at 5:45 pm. The stipend for this position ranges up to $5712 for the season.
Junior Varsity Assistant Cheer Coach
As part of the overall cheerleading coaching staff, this individual will assist the head JV coach in the development of the less experienced students. Safety, fun and structure must be paramount and the successful candidate will bring prior cheer experience either as a coach or student-athlete. Additional safety training is available. The winter cheer season is primarily sideline at games with limited practice opportunities. Games are typically at 5:45 pm with arrival at 5 pm two to three days a week. The stipend for this position will be prorated based on time commitment and availability.
Assistant Junior Varsity Softball Coach
The JV assistant softball coach will operate as part of a larger overall softball coaching staff and assist in the development of 8th-10th graders. Ability to work cooperatively with the head coach, motivate students to challenge themselves physically, while developing student social emotional skills is required. Practices are typically held from 3:30-5:15 pm Monday-Friday with games two nights a week at 6:30 pm. The softball season runs from February 23 until mid-May. The stipend for this position will be determined based on time commitment and availability with a range of $800-1250.
