Yorktown Defeats WL in Swim/Dive

In a loud and spirited contest, the Yorktown Patriot boys' team outscored the W&L Generals in 9 of 12 events, winning 169-146, while the girls' team won 5 of 12 events, prevailing 164-151.  The Patriots had one double winner, Jonathan Day, who placed first in the 200 IM and 100 back.  Single event winners included Annika Creedon (dive), Jacob Kreider (dive), Thomas Outlaw (100 fly), Kayle Park (200 IM), Mary Kate Reicherter (100 back), Chandler Sensibaugh (100 breast), and the girls' 200 medley relay squad (Natalie English, Park, Reicherter and Sensibaugh).  Heading into their final regular season meet against the Fairfax High School Rebels, the Patriot boys are 3-3 on the year, while the girls are 2-4.  As the regular season closes, the Patriots look forward to competing in the 2017 Liberty Conference 6 swim championships, which will be held at Washington & Lee High School on January 27-28.

YORKTOWN SWIM AND DIVE TEAMS END THE REGULAR SEASON WITH CONVINCING WINS OVER FAIRFAX HIGH SCHOOL

The Yorktown boys' team ended the regular season with a decisive 198-117 win, taking 9 of 12 events and ending the season with a 4-3 record.   Adi Kambhampaty was the boys' sole double-winner, taking the 100 breast and the 200 IM.  Boys' individual event winners included Charles Beall (dive), Jack Browne (200 free), Jonathan Day (100 back), and Zach Rosenthal (100 fly).  In the relays, the Patriot boys took first in three events: the 200 medley (Day, Kambhampaty, Thomas Outlaw, Ryan Soh), the 200 free (Kambhampaty, Outlaw, Rosenthal, Soh), and the 400 free (Day, Sam Ellison, Andrew Rehr, and Rosenthal).  

 
The Yorktown girls also prevailed 174-141, winning 8 of 12 events and ending the year with a 3-4 record.  On the girls' side, single event winners included Hannah Karlin (dive), Peyton Nassetta (100 back), and Chandler Sensibaugh (200 IM).  The Patriot girls also took first in two relays, the 200 medley (Emily Brooks, Nassetta, Mary Kate Reicherter, Sensibaugh) and the 400 free (Natalie English, Nassetta, Kayle Park, and Sensibaugh).     
 
The Patriots look forward to sending 35 swimmers and 8 divers to the 2017 Liberty Conference 6 swim/dive championships, the preliminaries of which will be held this Thursday (dive) and Friday (swim) at Washington & Lee High School.

YORKTOWN SWIM AND DIVE TEAMS FAIL TO OVERCOME VIENNA'S MADISON HIGH SCHOOL WARHAWKS

In Friday night action, the Patriot boys' team lost 137 to 178, while the girls' team was defeated 130 to 185.  The Patriots had three event winners: Jonathan Day (200 free), Sam Ellison (50 free), and the boys' 200 free relay team (Day, Ellison, Adi Kambhampaty, and Zach Rosenthal). The Patriots return to the pool on January 13th to challenge Arlington archrival Washington & Lee High School.

Dec. 16 Meet vs. McLean

YORKTOWN SWIM AND DIVE TEAMS SUFFER A DOUBLE LOSS TO THE HIGHLANDERS OF MCLEAN HIGH SCHOOL. 
 
In Friday night action, the Patriot boys' and girls' teams each won 5 of their 12 events.  The boys scored 139 to McLean's 176, while the girls lost 147.5 to 167.5.  The Patriots had two double winners, Jonathan Day (200 and 500 free) and Chandler Sensibaugh (100 breast and 100 fly) .  Single winners included Annika Creedon (dive), Jacob Kreider (dive), Kayle Park (200 IM), and Nicholas Pasternak (50 free). 
 
The Patriots are back in action on January 6 against the Warhawks of James Madison High School.

December 9 Recap

The Yorktown Patriots split their December 9 meet against Reston's South Lakes High School Seahawks.   The boys' team won the night, prevailing in 6 of 12 events and scoring 171-144.  

The girls' team won 4 of 12 events for a score of 133-182.   Ryan Soh was a double-winner. Single winners included Cate Barrett, Jack Browne, Natalie English, Lily Miller, Petie Nassetta, Thomas Outlaw, and diver Jacob Kreider.   The Patriots next face the McLean High School Highlanders on December 16 in the season's first away meet at the Spring Hill Recreational Center.

First Weekend Recap

YORKTOWN SWIM AND DIVE TEAMS SPLIT WEEKEND DOUBLEHEADER, BEATING HAYFIELD BUT FALLING TO LANGLEY.  In Friday night action, the Patriot boys' and girls' teams each won twelve of twelve events against Fairfax's Hayfield Hawks, with the boys scoring 235-87 and the girls earning 241-74.   The Patriots had four double winners: Kayle Park, Mary Kate Reicherter, Ryan Soh, and Chandler Sensibaugh.  Single winners included Emily Brooks, Jonathan Day, Emma Hutchinson, Adi Kambhampaty, Hannah Karlin (dive), Jacob Kreider (dive), KJ Morris Larkin, and Zach Rosenthal
 
On Saturday, both the Patriot girls' and boys' teams lost to McLean's Langley Saxons, with the Patriot girls scoring 134-179 and the Patriot boys earning 135-177.  The Patriot girls won 3 of 12 events, while the Patriot boys won 2 of 12.  Jonathan Day was a double winner, and individual winners included: Natalie English, Jacob Kreider (dive), Hannah Karlin (dive), and Nick Pasternak.    
 
The Patriots are back in action on December 9 against South Lakes High School.
