Girls to Complete Match with Chantilly on Friday, May 30

The girls tennis team will head back to Chantilly to complete a rain delayed region first round team tennis match on Friday, May 30 at 3 pm.

Girls Tennis Secures #3 Seed and Advances to Regionals - May 27

The girls tennis team will face the Concorde #2 seed on May 27 in the first round of the region girls tennis team tournament. The girls will travel to their opponent.

The subsequent round will be on May 29 also at the site of the higher seed.

YHS Ladies Tennis Continues to rock on!

YHS Ladies Tennis continues to rock on! The squad had a tough nail biter of a match with Washington-Lee on April 4th to come out on top 6-3. All three doubles were super close, 11-9 and 11-9 at numbers 1 & 3 and 10-10 (tiebreaker loss) at doubles #2. Next up for the team is Fairfax High school. Current record now stands at 5-0.

Yorktown Squad off to Great Start!

With two wins under its belt, Yorktown Girls tennis is off to a fast good start.

Our scrimmage against George Mason was a good way to get primed for the season. They are a top single A sized high school and consistently are one of the top teams in the state. Their top two singles players won the state doubles championships last year. It was a great tune-up to play them!

Our first match of the season against Wakefield was very competitive. Yorktown won the match, with 4 of our top 6 singles players out for various reasons. Players who competed in official matches were Kaitlin Van Dirk (#1 & 3rd doubles), Katherine Piper (#2), Sammi Cooper (#3 & 3rd doubles), Rachael Cooper (#4 & 1st doubles), Lexi Peck (#5 & 1st doubles), Charlotte Ruffing (#6 and 3rd doubles), & Ellen Nye (3rd doubles). Great job by everybody!
